P. Jason Skuda, JDI represent people and small businesses harmed by insurance companies and other wrongdoers. That’s it. There is, of course, more to my story.
I began practicing law in 2001. Like most new civil litigators, I started with a firm representing the entities I now sue. Having hardly heard of “insurance coverage law,” I became an insurance coverage specialist, handling a wide variety of other civil litigation matters along the way. As an insurance coverage lawyer, I represented insurers directly in lawsuits filed against them by their insureds or “policyholders.” My initial practice in Dallas included commercial general liability (CGL) and automobile coverage issues, along with a variety of civil litigation work. I then moved to the Dallas office of a New York-based firm, focusing on large cases dealing with directors and officers liability (D&O), errors and omissions policies (E&O), and London-market (Lloyd’s) policy litigation. I would periodically work on other matters, including toxic torts, nursing home liability, and premises liability cases. Once I moved to Seattle, my work concentrated on insurance bad faith litigation, especially under commercial property, homeowners, and CGL policies. I also continued handling various civil litigation matters, ranging from construction defect litigation to toxic tort cases (pollution, asbestos). |
After too long on the wrong side, trying different firms, and practicing in two states, I changed sides and started liking being a lawyer. Now, I apply my years of insurance coverage and litigation experience in service of real people harmed by insurance companies and others. I focus on a small number of compelling cases, including insurance bad faith, medical negligence, employment discrimination, personal injury, and consumer protection matters, in order to give my clients the best service.
I am also very active in the Washington State Association for Justice (WSAJ), our state plaintiffs' trial lawyers association. I currently serve on the WSAJ Board of Governors and the Editorial Board of Trial News. In addition, I am the current co-chair WSAJ's Insurance Practice Section.
